The cap and roster sheet is technically legal as given, but the player mix and contracts are very hard to square with how NHL teams behave. Having Crosby, Malkin, Marchand, McAvoy, Karlsson, Makar, Nurse, Luke Hughes, Toffoli, and a pile of elite prospects all on one custom team with no acquisition cost shown would require multiple blockbuster trades and UFA decisions that are not documented here. In particular, Colorado letting Makar walk or trading him without a massive return, and New Jersey moving Luke Hughes on a long UFA-term deal, are both extremely unlikely in a realistic NHL environment. Because there are no proposed moves listed, there is no way to judge whether the path to this roster is plausible in terms of trade value, offer sheets, or UFA bidding. The contracts themselves are not outrageous on a player-by-player basis, and the cap/roster numbers are valid, but assembling this much star talent and this many top prospects on one roster without any visible cost makes it very unlikely as an NHL outcome.
